This Day trip is an exhilarating experience which takes you to trek the Golden Monkeys in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. This trip offers you the opportunity to observe the stunning primates up close, in their natural habitat.

The Golden monkeys are endangered primates, threatened by human settlement near Volcanoes National Park, as well as civil wars within the Virunga ranges. Golden Monkeys also known as the “Old world monkey” have got unique features that include, long and non-prehensile tail, which is often held upright, unique noses, the reddish-brown coat, and weigh between 7 to 10 Kgs for males and 4 to 7 Kgs for females. The Golden Monkey are known for their active and energetic playas well as being social animals.

This 1 Day Golden Monkey Trekking will start from Kigali or close to volcanoes National park with a pick up from your hotel.

Highlights

• 4:00 am: Pickup from Kigali
• 6:00am: Breakfast at Volcanoes
• 6:30 am: Briefing by the warden
• 8:30 am: Trekking escorted by the tour guide
• Evening: Transfer back to Kigali

In the morning, you will be picked from your Hotel in Kigali or near Park to transfer to Volcanoes National Park for your Golden Monkey Trekking expedition. On arrival at Volcanoes, you will be taken by the driver guide have breakfast. After your breakfast, you will drive to the park office for briefing and guidelines about the Golden Monkey Trekking.
After the briefing, you will then proceed for your Day’s activity in Volcanoes National Park. You will hike through the forest, observing other animals, birds, and the beautiful scenery. Once you encounter the golden monkeys in their habitat, you will be allowed an hour with these unique primates thereafter, trek back to the starting point where your driver guide will be waiting for your next activity.
You will have your hot lunch and then head for the cultural experience at the Iby’wachu Cultural Village. You will enjoy the traditional or cultural dance performances, Music and poems, use of bows and arrows, and you can actively take part in any of the mentioned activities as well as active participation in the traditional marriage ceremony. After this activity, you will transfer back to Kigali which marks the end of your safari.
