After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a mandatory briefing. Here, you’ll be assigned to one of the 12 habituated gorilla families based on your fitness level and preferences. The trek itself can range from one to six hours, depending on the gorillas’ location, and takes you deep into the misty montane forests of the Virunga Mountains. Once you locate your assigned group, you’ll spend a magical hour observing their behavior, interactions, and sheer presence—an experience that’s both humbling and unforgettable. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and a well-earned rest.
